This is a shot breakdown of some of my real-time visual effects work done for the Halo 5: Guardians game. It showcases the numerous layers of visual effects added to each shot, along with what they look like with and without the effect elements.
I designed and created all VFX work in these sequences, including all FX textures and FX geometry.
The exceptions to this are the following:
Initial set up of environment Z-Depth Fog and Screen Space Fog passes (I tweaked many of them to match the effects work for each shot); the large geometry pieces of the Power Core Unit exploding as the Spartan Player punches it; the Forerunner Guardian Slipspace Sky Portal effect, where the Guardian Bird exits the sky (some of the lens flare and energy textures used on this effect were mine); the larger Rock and Debris Geometry being unearthed as the Covenant Kraken Ship lifts out of the ground; and the Green Electrical Energy on the Covenant Kraken Ship's leg connectors.
